Thank you for all your support and advice, you have shown me how to believe in my judgment and guided me through a maze of information.

I see that I am making a difference and its good!

Joanne

Thank you for everything you have given me; including my confidence.  You need to gain experience to become a good interpreter and you have guided me through with realism and understanding.

You have always supported me with any issues I have wanted to address by providing training and showing me how to develop support strategies.  I am looking forward to my next step to interpreter status and will miss you.  I hope everyone walks your way when they start out.  Thanks once again. Paula

I have enjoyed my time working with you, being part of the team.  I have benefited and grown through Staff Development even if the evening sessions were difficult to make on time!  It took me a while to realise the importance of feedback; you value this so highly.  I am now unable to complete a booking without evaluating my performance and critical thinking.  You are right; you do have to be a master in your own language before you can interpret into another.  My A Level English course starts soon.. thanks for everything.  I will keep in touch.  Steve

Firstly a humungus thank you, what's it been? around 2 1/2 years? and in that time I've enjoyed the variety of work, the people I have met and worked with along the way. The clients, the situations, each and every one of them along with Deaf Umbrella have assisted in moulding me into the Communicator I am today. The experiences you gave me, were interesting, challenging and were never the same and by adapting to these situations it has taken me out of my 'safe comfort zone' and has made me a more confident Communicator and individual.  I would and did recommend you to a friend and I'd happily do it again!  Christine

Transactional Analysis - Early TA theory and history

Transactional Analysis is a social psychology and a method to improve communication. The theory outlines how we have developed and treat ourselves, how we relate and communicate with others, and offers suggestions and interventions which will enable us to change and grow. Transactional Analysis is underpinned by the philosophy that: people can change and we all have a right to be in the world and be accepted.  Transactional Analysis is a fascinating, useful and effective model for managing, developing and helping people in business and in life generally. We will be looking at this wonderful model for increasing self-awareness and advancing self-development.

LSIS Training & Deaf Umbrella DUET  - June 2011 rolling course..(Induction Essential)

Deaf Umbrella has a statutory and moral duty to ensure we function with the welfare of children and vulnerable adults in our uppermost thoughts.  We have a duty to ensure each member of our staffs has completed safeguarding training along with equality and diversity training prior to employment so that we provide a framework for protecting children and vulnerable adults from abuse of any kind.

“For those agencies whose job it is to protect children and vulnerable people, the harsh reality is that if a sufficiently devious person is determined to seek out opportunities to work their evil, no one can guarantee that they can be stopped.  Our task is to make it as difficult as possible for them to succeed.”  The Bichard Enquiry Report 2004.

The welfare of the child or vulnerable adult is paramount in our position, all children and vulnerable adults regardless of age, disability, gender, racial heritage, religious belief, sexual orientation or identity have the right to equal protection from all types of harm or abuse.  As such Deaf Umbrella's policy and training has been created to ensure safeguarding provision for our clients.  This policy applies to all staff, volunteers and others who work with or come into contact with children and vulnerable adults.

NLP  Neuro Linguistic Programming  December 7th 2010
DUET
10-4pm Sands Films
Everyone has heard the saying "Anything you put your mind to, you can achieve." So how is it that people often do not achieve their full potential?

Neuro Linguistic Programming (usually called NLP) involves far more than just positive thinking and changing your attitude. We are looking at developing flexibility of behaviour so that you can access a range of skills to allow you to formulate your own effective strategies to promote learning, improve retention and motivate students.  Research projects like the Durham Project shows that this ground breaking collaboration with NLP teaching produces very positive results.

Learn how to change negative unhelpful beliefs, establish and maintain rapport, pace students so they learn better, communicate elegantly using the power of language.  When you pursue a well designed course of training, you will discover how to reach the highest levels of success and fulfilment in every area of life and in your relationships, both professional and personal.
Places are limited so book through your members area.
