We just grabbed our favourite treats, a blanket, and hit play!
National Theatre at Home has a lot of their shows available to watch, and all of their plays and video content have closed captioning for d/Deaf and hard of hearing audiences. Also, you can now watch British Sign Language (BSL) interpreted Prima Facie and Peter Pan - They are building up their catalogue of BSL all the time!
AUDIO DESCRIPTION, BRITISH SIGN LANGUAGE, AND CAPTIONS
Audio Description allows blind and partially sighted audiences to experience theatre. It is a live verbal commentary providing information on the visual elements of a production as it unfolds.
British Sign Language gives Deaf and hard of hearing people access to experience theatre. An interpreter will stand in a clearly visible position on the screen and interpret the spoken and heard aspects of the play.
Captions are similar to subtitling and gives Deaf, deafened and hard of hearing people access to theatre. Captioning is also helpful for customers whose first language is not English and students who are studying the text of a play.
