Volunteers – Why they have our respect and admiration!

"Random acts of kindness are good for the soul."

It's Volunteer's Week! An annual celebration to recognise the wonderful contribution millions of volunteers make across the UK. This has never been more important that now!

Deaf Umbrella has been extremely fortunate to have had a small army of volunteers who have donated their time to our Job Club for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing – we could not have achieved so much for our clients without them!

By giving others a helping hand, our volunteers have also gain valuable new skills and boosted their own confidence alongside that of our deaf and HoH job club users. Many of our volunteers have gone on to employment with Deaf Umbrella through their volunteering. It's a win-win situation for all involved!

During these difficult times the deaf community has particularly suffered from their already isolated state – a silent world can be lonely at the very best of times – and all our staff have endeavoured to help out as much as they can during this extraordinary state of affairs.

We really appreciate the efforts of each and every one of you and we are truly grateful to you all.

Unfortunately, this year many events that are usually held during Volunteer's Week will be postponed or cancelled, however we wanted to thank our volunteers through social media and spread the message that volunteers really are changing lives.

Thank you for the contribution that you make and thank you so much for helping us out.

Deaf Umbrella is looking forward to a return to face to face working very soon and hope to see you all in the near future!
