We are Disability Confident accredited Employers

At Deaf Umbrella, we are proud to have successfully renewed as an accredited Disability Confident Employer (Level 2) by the Department for Work and Pensions, demonstrating our commitment to becoming a truly disability inclusive employer, and we are working towards Disability Confident Leader..

The Disability Confident scheme supports employers to make the most of the talents disabled people can bring to the workplace and it has three levels that have been designed to support organisations:

  • Level 1: Disability Confident Committed.

  • Level 2: Disability Confident Employer.

  • Level 3: Disability Confident Leader.

We signed up to the scheme to demonstrate our support for equality, diversity, and inclusion alongside our commitment to ensuring fair treatment and equal access to our services, information, and employment. By being a Disability Confident employer, we also help raise awareness and open up conversation to help reduce some of the stigma or fear of employing someone with a disability.

With 7.7 million working age people in the UK having a disability, and 83% of people acquiring their disability or long-term health condition whilst in work, it is vital that businesses are confident to attract, recruit and retain disabled employees, including those with long-term health conditions.

Rachel Hubbard, MIEP Director of Deaf Umbrella, commented:

"Joining the scheme has cemented our commitment to be inclusive, open minded and non-judgemental. The word disability holds equal place in our environment and culture of our business. Our values and beliefs look to appeal to all applicants irrespective of whether you have a disability. Deaf Umbrella work with and employ disabled people, ensuring that our recruitment is accessible, that we provide reasonable adjustments and support existing employees to ensure they feel valued and motivated."
