[BSL INFO] NHS Winter 'Help Us Help You – Before It Gets Worse’

Updated: Mar 18, 2020

The NHS ‘Help Us, Help You – Before It Gets Worse’ campaign helps the public and particularly the most vulnerable in society - over 65s and those with underlying health conditions as well as their carers - understand the things they can do to stay well this winter, and if they get ill, where to get advice and get well sooner.

It reminds the importance of visiting the pharmacist or contact NHS 111 at the first signs of illness, picking up prescriptions and staying warm over the winter months and checking in on elderly neighbours and relatives.

DOWNLOAD the winter leaflet leaflet which includes advice on stocking up on prescriptions, getting a flu jab, contacting a pharmacist etc...

All the information is also available in alternative formats including British Sign Language (BSL):

  • Play the BSL version of the TV advert:

  • Watch the BSL version of the leaflet:

REMEMBER:

  • If you start to feel unwell, even if it is just a cough or cold, don’t wait until it gets worse– get help from your pharmacist. The sooner you get advice the better – pharmacists are here to help you stay well.

  • If you’ve been prescribed medication, don’t forget to pick up your prescription before the Christmas holidays start. Many GPs and pharmacies will close over the holidays.

  • If you do need help over the holiday period when your GP surgery or pharmacy is closed, contact NHS 111 to get the right medical attention urgently. It is available online at 111.nhs.uk as well as by phone, Next Generation Text on 18001 111 and NHS 111 BSL interpreter service. You can find out more about NHS 111 and access the BSL interpreter service by visiting nhs.uk/111

Please help communicate these important messages and reach people who might otherwise miss out. Thanks in advance for your help!
